We eat here quite regularly, but I haven't had a roast here for quite some time. We dined yesterday, 2 of us ordered the roast and the quality has unfortunately declined. The roast potatoes were poor, in fact nothing actually looked 'roasted'. We have previously been brought fresh veg in serving bowls, gravy boat, cauliflower cheese, but not on this occasion. Staff great as always but the meal just seemed microwaved. Disappointed as I took my mum for lunch and told her how great Sunday lunch is.

I've heard a lot of good things about the fat boar so I decided to try it - I had a chicken burger with loaded fries. The burger was lovely, chicken was crispy and juicy, with plenty of cheese and a rasher of bacon, great farmhouse style cob (that's a bap to most of you). The loaded fries were tasty, and had plenty of sauce, however the sauce seemed to be mostly in the bottom of the bowl, leaving the top chips relatively bare and the bottom chips being soggy and mushy. I do think there was something missing from the chips, to really give them flavour. Service - The staff are plenty attentive and courteous, clearly know their jobs and do them well. There was a bit of a wait time on the food, but it was definitely fresh so you can't complain really. Price - 19 for a chicken burger with loaded fries, then 3.30 for a pint of coke I think it was, on the pricier side of life, if the portion sizes are bigger, I think I'd be happy, that being said, I wasn't hungry after. Overall - a nice place to eat, but nothing stood out particularly, perhaps my expectations from the race reviews I heard set my expectations a bit high.
