Doctors are very helpful. IF you can get an appointment. Or if you can get someone to answer the phone. Massive queues but only one receptionist on desk. It's 50/50 wether you'll get the nice receptionists or the RUDE grumpy ones. In a queue on phone for over half an hour most times I've rang. They will give me an appointment for my 2 year old, IF there are any available. But not for myself. Too many patients for this surgery, hence the lack of appointments.

I would give it 3.5. There are doctors like Dr.Bala (amazing), Dr. Patil and Dr. Gowland (havent seen her for a couple of years) who go above and beyond and give an exceptional service. However there are doctors who can be dismissive and you do feel like you arent getting the support. Also I suppose like with many NHS GPS, you tend to see many different doctors, so sometimes a certain doctor will oversee something, then it will be put down and left and somebody else will pick it up and want to do different treatment options. A few examples are test results that have come back clear, a doctor will mention if that happens doing further tests, then you see someone else and youre starting again. For that reason you feel like youre on your own to investigate, identify and request treatments, as there doesnt seem to be anybody responsible for your overall condition. Also at times Ive been prescribed heart medication and not sure when to get back in touch, to ensure that the dosage is correct etc. I do feel like Ive been given medication and sent away and while thats fine for infections etc, when its serious like a heart problem, you may not always have symptoms or be told what to do next. I think sometimes it needs to be followed up. Im constantly looking at the NICE guidelines to see if anything else needs to be done, which as a patient with no medical training, I shouldnt have that stress and responsibility. There are very few reviews on here from people that wanted to register but arent local. For me, I think thats good as its oversubscribed and difficult to get appointments and as nice as it is to treat everybody, its not possible or fair to existing patients. Edited to add: the receptionists will turn you away if you ring after 9, without speaking to a Dr . They will try and triage you themselves and take it upon themselves to decide if they think your message should be passed on a medical professional. I question whether the receptionists have had the triage and signposting training as they dont seem to ask about medical symptoms/ reason for call on the phone and definitely dont record them in your medical notes. Theyre not interested in what the appointment may be for. They just tell you youve rung at the wrong time and turn you away. The patients notes should focus on the patients health not complaining about patients requesting appointments at the wrong time! Patients may not be aware of the immediate risks to life and health if treatment is delayed and they assume their condition is not serious enough to warrant an A and E visit. Plus they have posters everywhere telling you not to go to A and E for x, y and z. I think its a safeguarding issue to turn patients away because they didnt follow a policy! GMS Access Commitment 2022/23 A more planned and forward looking approach should be taken to the scheduling of appointments throughout the day, or for future dates, meaning it is no longer acceptable for all appointments to be released at 8am for that day.
