Don't bother calling or attending for an appointment unless you are a local and registered with the practice. I'm an 'outsider' and I was refused an appointment and ended up at the local Pharmacy who helped me out. Unfortunately, even this alternative has been closed off to those not registered locally as this Easter my daughter was reluctantly refused assistance as the Pharmacy has been told to stop giving any help. You have to call 111 or try Dolgellau or ultimately visit Bronglais, which is 30 miles away. So much for a universal NHS. The Welsh government and Gwynedd council do not want tourists or day visitors as presumably they could spoil the purity of the Welsh race. Thank you to whoever replied to my complaint and suggested either communicating by telephone or letter. A contact telephone number would help and even a name or department would be even better. I complained last April 2022 about the same problem and didn't really get an answer, I was just fobbed off excuses, not real answers as to what you should do if you feel ill whilst visiting the area and I have posed several questions that I would rather like to have answers for: What are we supposed to do if we get ill, whilst in Wales, now that not only the health centres refuse to help and now the pharmacies are told to refuse to give any help as well? What I also need to know is why are we being discriminated against? Why are we expected to go to a hospital 30 x 2 miles away when we could be treated 1 mile away? Why clog up a hospital A & E and waste fuel and add to pollution when there is medical attention available locally? Would you have been happy if my daughter had called an ambulance? Why are we discriminated against whilst in Wales when this is not the case in England? As for suggesting that I 'had a difficult experience' somewhat downplays the possible disastrous consequences that could occur because of someone who has been refused an appointment when having a 'difficult experience'. I also need to say that my complaint isn't aimed mainly about Rowlands Pharmacy because they are only carrying out the instructions that they have been given so I will ask another question which is have all pharmacies been told not to examine or discuss health issues with 'outsiders' who are not registered with a local GP? My daughter had to travel almost 160 miles to find a Pharmacy where she could find help. That is unacceptable. Finally, you would be happy to work with me to find a resolution. That will be simple to achieve. Allow me and my family (and all 'Tourists') access to to ALL NHS / Pharmacy facilities in the Tywyn local area, and every other area in Wales, otherwise you are wasting my time and yours.
