Good for a small dog walk, with dogs on leash. Park near the church on a side road. Close to Harolds stones too

Well this was a different day! Stuart is certainly passionate about his subject, knows archaeology and has joined many digs. And he loves his field /lost City of Trellech! You do get to do some digging which gives you a good idea of the boring grunt work that archaeologists face. And the aching backs and sore knees if you're not used to it! Stuart shares a few finds at the end, but was a little patronising in delivery. Think he may have been disappointed at our lack of knowledge?! But we were paying for an experience not a lecture. Don't expect any facilities either. Take all the refreshments you're going to need, and be prepared for a walk to the local pub for the loo (it's not very far at all) or brave a not very pleasant portaloo. Overall we were a bit disappointed - considering this has been going on since 2004 there is still little to see at the site and there's been backfilling of parts. If you've wanted to dabble at a dig... Go for it. But I'd say temper your expectations!

You get shown around the site, and every area explained by a very informative guide. Try your hand at finding relics, and digging. A good look at previously discovered finds.
