Ravens Retreat

I loved this shepherds hut ,the hut is insulated as we came in November and it wasnt cold when we didnt light the fire ,everything you may need ,walks in the woods are lovely, log burner, bbq for the summer months ,the garden for your dog is huge .cant wait to come back in spring when all the leaves are back on the trees and it will probably feel even more private if that's possible , I could definitely live here, no stress from the real world ,I feel a million miles away with what's going on in the world ,just magical ,thankyou sue and roger

If you want to get back to nature then this is the place for you. Very secluded surrounded by woods and a babling stream right next to the hut. The hut was very well equipped with everything you would need. Great walks that start right outside the door and also a paddock for our own use to exercise the dogs. We loved getting all cosy at night with the logs burning in the fire along with a nice glass of red wine. Very romantic. The owners Sue and Roger were lovely and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay special. So we can't wait to come again. So thanks again to Sue and Roger and not forgetting Raven for a super time.

Absolutely superb. Really lovely cost hut with a log fire to keep warm, double bed/sofa. Fully stocked kitchen with fridge microwave, hob and relevant utensils. Lovely brook flowing past the door giving you your own piece of paradise during your stay. Feels completely off grid, even with the compost toilet (there really is no smell) so quiet, lovely and relaxing. Only drawback is crouching down to shower but its really worth it. The hosts are so lovely, welcoming and leave you to your own devices, nothing is too much trouble. The wifi is excellent, should you need it. We will definitely come back.

We spent 3 nights at Ravens Retreat and absolutely loved it. The hosts Sue and Roger were really kind and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Even our dog was spoiled with treats and toys! The shepherd hut itself was beautiful, with a comfy sofa that pulls out into a bed and lots of appliances. The toilet and shower are right next to it so you don't have to get cold or wet if going to the loo in the night! The surrounding area was so beautiful and peaceful, with a stream running by right beside the hut and a lovely paddock attached for our use. There is also a stunning woodland to walk in right on the doorstep and plenty of hiking in the local area. We enjoyed eating our breakfasts out on the deck looking at the trees and our dinners cosy down by the outside fire :) Overall a lovely place to stay with wonderful hosts and I also have to mention their cute, super soft dog Raven! Would definitely recommend!

My husband and I had a short break in the shepherds hut in January 2020 for 2 nights. The hut is well equipped and situated in a beautiful secluded spot. The hut is super cute and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The log fire kept us warm despite the really cold and wet weather we experienced. There are some lovely walks around the location and scenic views from the nearby lake. Sue and Roger are great hosts who ensured that our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed, while respecting our privacy and allowing us to feel that we were in our own little private haven. Would highly recommend for couples who want to escape from the pressures of life. We would love to return in the future to experience all the seasons in the woodland and to explore the local area.
