Some of my best childhood memories were formed here. The drive up to the big country house was epic, I never knew the beauty of rural Wales before Pendarren. As a child even washing our own clothes was a novalty, we laughed all day, found fossils, explored caves, abseiled, did the waterfall slide, bought gifts for our parents at the tuck shop, I remember losing a welly when my kayak turned over it was also the first time ever rode a horse. Thank you Haringey

A wonderful place to experience leaving very treasured school trip memories back in 1977. I learnt a lot about the environment, working with others and about myself and my new found capabilities. Thank you Pendarren House. Over 30 years later and still very often thought of.

Date: June 2022 I am a child who went here around 9 months ago. It was absolutely terrible the second night we had to do a fire alarm test, everyone got out very quickly. Only a few talked, but getting out quickly is most important. (In case of saving lives when theres a fire) One of the staff could us pathetic. And made us do it again. Caving was the only fun thing, that lasted about an 1hr. We did kayaking for 1hr, it was freezing cold. I have allergies and I accidentally dropped one of my tissues in the boat. One of the staff put in my jacket and told me to keep it with me until we get back to the house (in about 3 hrs) I got angry but I didn't show my anger. I couldn't be bothered to keep a wet tissue with me for 3 hours so I threw my tissue under the van. One of the teachers spotted it and he made me pick up other peoples litter and made me put in a bag. Which then he said for me to carry it until we get back to the house. I could tell my friends hated the place as well. The first night was laughter and fun before the teachers told us off. The next nights in the house the others were extremely tired not talking to me or one another. Then I got a letter from my parents. It seemed like a blessing to receive it. The reason why I didn't give it one star is because the breakfast was really nice. Oh wait, that was the first and ONLY breakfast that was nice. Let me change it back to 1 star. Overall review: Pendarren house should be renamed Haringey Children's depression centre. I'd rather break my arm then stay there for 2 months. (Thank god you can't). It cost 200+ to send your child there should be free (at least) I wish I could give it zero stars.
