The missing link on the Blackpill to Pontardulais bike path. The station bridge is NCN (national cycle network) status; to the south is the Gowerton to Blackpill section of the path, to the north is the Gowerton to Pontardulais section. The station bridge is the direct link between the two, and yet, the path to the north is blocked by a locked gate. Why is this? Swansea council have spent a lot of money upgrading the path, and a locked gate and a 100 meters of path remain the blockage. Its such an easy win, to link the bike paths and make the station accessible from the north. I cant see the improvement on the Council active travel plan, not sure how to proceed

This station has been improved substantially in recent years, since the tracks were doubled and the second platform re-instated, with accessible footbridge. There are information displays, a ticket machine, waiting shelters and limited free parking. Trains going West serve Carmarthen, Tenby, Pembroke Dock, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Fishguard Harbour. There are also services to Crewe and Shrewsbury via the picturesque Heart of Wales line, which reverse at Llanelli to head North East towards Shrewsbury. This means you can travel to Shrewsbury and Crewe in both directions from Gowerton, but the Eastbound services towards Manchester will give you the quicker journey times. Westbound trains serve Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, where most head North to Hereford and Shrewsbury via the Welsh Marches, and on to Manchester. Occasional services from Gowerton serve the main line via Cardiff and Newport to London Paddington.

Went there for a walk, stayed for 10 mins, & walked back home. Saw two freight trains hooked up to each other.
