Firstly, I had an interview for an administration/accounts role a few weeks back with the manager where I explained that I was leaving my previous employment due to job security. I also explained that I had basic knowledge in accounts and 3 years worth of knowledge in administration to which he responded, thats no problem because I will be provided with full training and support and that the previous girl who is currently on sick didn't come from any accounts/administration background and she picked it up quickly therefore, I felt confident enough to accept the position.
I handed my two week notice and started with Carreras. I had been there ONLY 5 days when I seen my position advertised on Indeed!!! Not only did he post this on a Friday afternoon without informing me first but he also left me travel to work on the Monday morning only to take me to a nearby Costa with another member of staff to humiliate me and tell me how badly I work and that I have no understanding of how accounts works and that I no longer have a job, he then lied to my face about the advert and took 20 minutes to actually apologise and by this point, I was in tears and so embarrassed with everyone in Costa staring at me. I will also like to add that I was told by the manager on my first day with Carreras that this other member of staff who was invited to Costa was previously working in the same role as I was and messed it up completely which resulted in him being moved to a different department and I also had him questioning my understanding of accounts which I found laughable!!!!
I also questioned why I hadn't had any training when I was previously told that I would have full training and support and that the other lady who started just before me had training so why was I being treated any differently to which he responded with 'unfortunately, I do not have the resources to train new members of staff'. I also asked the manager what I had done wrong as everything I was told to do, I had completed without any errors to which I had no response. He was hardly in the office the 5 days that I was there and when he was, he spent most of his time arguing with staff over the phone or moaning about his staff to myself and this other lady in the office who had recently started.
In the contract, I was told I would receive two weeks notice and I received no notice and was paid for only the one week I worked. I am absolutely disgusted the way they have treated and spoken to me. I have a mortgage to pay for and Christmas is next month. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!!!
