Avoid Billy Upton's, they deceive customers and use bad Business practices, including false advertisement (which is illegal). After being a regular customer at Billy Upton's for 2 years, I had a very disappointing, unpleasant experience with them today when I found that they have been deceiving their customers for months by putting deals on the gigantic signs hovering over the counter, but then actually not including all the meats which are stated on the board. So when unsuspecting customers buy deals based on those signs, they are being deceived because if they dont check the bag straightaway, they do not realise they are getting less than what is stated on the board. I found this out today, and will not buy from them again because apparently this has been happening for months. All that being said, when I caught them out on their deceptive business practices today, I was very surprised at how inappropriately they handled it, especially given that I am a regular customer who they have known for 2 years; not only would they refuse to give me the exact amount of meat which is advertised on the large sign, but even more astonishingly, outright lied by creating a laughable excuse for why their incorrect signs have been up for months. Avoid Billy Upton's if you value honesty in business practices. But if you do buy deals from them, make sure you check that everything is in the bag. Alternatively, two other butchers in the market with fair prices, quality and who have good business practices. For the details: Today I purchased a 50 Steak Deal at Billy Upton's; I bought the deal after carefully reviewing the enormous sign hanging on the counter, which states that the pack includes 4 x 455g of Rump Steaks. After paying for and receiving my Steak Deal, I checked the pack and found there were only 2 rump steaks of 455g each. I raised this with the shopkeepers. Initially, the shopkeepers dismissed me immediately after stating that I am mistaken and that the deal is meant to be 2 rump steaks. I persisted in a polite manner, and kept pointing out to them that the enormous sign hovering right over them states 4 x rump steaks, not 2. They then handed me a tiny pamphlet, which was hiding lying flat on top of the counter, which did state 2 rump steaks not 4. However, my decision to buy was obviously based on the gigantic sign hanging over the butchery along with all other prices and deals, not a tiny pamphlet hiding where no one could see it; I politely informed them that as the mistake was theirs, I felt it was both deceptive and bad business practice to mislead customers. I suggested that they could either give me exactly what is stated on the enormous sign, or that we could simply exclude the rump steaks from the pack altogether and they could refund me for only the rump steaks while I kept the rest of the deal. Unfortunately, instead of acknowledging their mistake and offering solutions, the shopkeepers then attempted to intimidate and guilt me into dropping the issue by using the excuse that they wanted to change the posters, but the handyman who was meant to change the posters is in the hospital because he broke his leg. I was surprised that they resorted to such an obvious lie, because I know for a fact those signs have been there, unchanged, for months. The obvious lie that the signs couldnt be changed because the injured handyman was in the hospital was repeated to me 5 times as though it justified their deceptive business practices; this lie is even more ridiculous because 10 minutes later when I was passing by the butcher on my way back, I noticed that the signs were changed; they taped the signs over and changed at least 3 different things on the boards the moment I left, and were still in the process of changing more. This means that all the customers throughout the past months who were making decisions based on the boards have been deceived. In the end, I refunded the entire Steak Set pack and got my 50 back, as Billy Upton's categorically refused to make amends provide any other solution.
