The website states 'with a strong focus on dementia care.' My mother has dementia and was refused respite by the care manager of Lodge because she walked accidently into another residents room and because she spoke Italian. Dementia patients lose their ability to speak after a while so could not quite see her point especially as they advertise their expertise in the field of dementia. So your relative will be fine if they are in a vegetative state and speak! ! My mother has never been refused care from any other establishment (at least 7 /8 different care homes) and they are always sad to see her go. She is no trouble, I felt the rejection was personal. Awful experience for both myself and my poor Mum who was shaken by the attitude of these people. And their top up for council funded residents is 85 per week! Be warned!

Moved my father here last August as he needed EMI nursing care. Looked at many homes before putting his name on the list. First thing I noticed was that it looked and smelled clean. All the residents that were in the lounge looked clean and well cared for. Whenever I visited Dad, other than when he was ill, he was up and in the lounge, was clean and well attended to by the staff. His room was always clean and also his bathroom. The staff were always professional, caring and helpful. They were particularly good when Dad was ill and very sympathetic when he died. Even the Funeral Director was impressed by both the home and the staff, saying that they were among the best he'd been to and that he goes to many homes. I have only thanks and gratitude to this home and staff.
