Came here back in the early 1990s, we were given a week, some blank maps and a set of colouring pencils and told to 'b*gger off into the hills and colour in a geological map", so off the other 5 went, trundling off into the blackness when a brainwave hit me, lets try the library I said to no one in particular. Luckily for me the library hadn't been shut down due to government cutbacks and was still in possession of some material from the British Geological Survey. So for the rest of the afternoon I set to colouring in the relevant points of note on my chart. Hellishly easy thought I, that evening I displayed my cartographical prowess to the others who looked at me despisingly, after their geological exertions were in no mood to comment positively on my out-of-the box thinking. Seems a shame that all this is for nought these days when one can simply download a map. I prefer the old ways - go visit the library!
