Great house for a large family holiday. Plenty to do with miles and miles of walking paths at the doorstep. The house has been done up to a very high standard with books and art throughout and some DVDs to entertain us on rainy evenings. Its very remote - a fair drive from Pennal. Thanks to Terry and Valerie for their welcome and to Susan for her clear communication and helpful suggestions, especially during this difficult time. We had lovely days out to Tywyn, Machynlleth, Castell y Bere, Aberdyfi and the Tal-y-Llyn railway. Recommended Diolch yn fawr am wythnos braf iawn ym Mro Dyfi

I didn't expect to be reminded of a remote homestay in the Western Ghat rainforest of the Indian state of Kerala but somehow I was. Like Fringe Ford (see a previous review) Maesywerngoch is a longish drive up a dirt road to a comfortable house nestled in the hills overlooking the forest you've just driven up. The accommodation has everything needed for a relaxing and restorative break with great walks from the house, at night we turned all the house lights out to fully appreciate the stars shining brightly in the absence of any man made light. If you want a change there are long sweeping beaches a short drive away but like FF it's all about being in glorious isolation, surrounded by nature. All they need now are some tigers and elephants in the forest as well.
