The staff aren't qualified to review the cases put to them and present weak arguments . Its a pointless service.

Pointless even taking complaints to the ombudsman, they choose what to investigate and what to basically say "sorry we don't have the resource to look into your complaint". After logging a complaint with council regarding refuse not collected and the time it took to pick up my complaint (over the 20 days) seems even though the council have not followed it's own complaints procedure does not warrant an investigation. If you disagree with that decision the emails you will just be ignored. Seems a very corrupt system getting money for deciding who they choose to investigate.

My experience also refelcts the review below. Useless in the face of undisputable wrongdoing by a local authority.

I was initially encouraged by previous reviewers complaining that the Ombudsman only checks if procedure was followed. I brought a case to their attention in this was demonstrably not the case, and where the council even lied about what their role (in the Homes for Ukraine) process was, and failed to show that the procedures it claimed to be following even existed. Although the Ombudsman is fully aware of this and this was laid out clearly to them, they simply repeated the council's lies back to me in their "final response". No investigation of any kind seems to have taken place. My complaint is summarised and understood quite quite well at the start of their response - but the decision then fails to address key points, obfuscates what I'm actually complaining about, and just repeats the council's unfounded claims (the reason I contacted the Ombudsman in the first place - because the councils' complaint response clearly didn't hold water). As a result, I am deeply disillusioned with Welsh public services. I feel vulnerable to them in my own home.
