We had afternoon tea at the Octopus cafe today and unfortunately was really disappointed. For the price I feel it was very poor. No cup and saucer or a pot for tea, very little clotted cream to go with the huge scone (which was lovely actually), no jam. The sandwichs were ok, the cheesecake in the jar was flavourless and then had this strange after taste on the cake or biscuit at the bottom. The mini Victoria sponge was just awful. They also gave us a Prosecco jelly, which was thoughtful but o just couldnt eat it. It was such a shame because the staff were absolutely lovely, and you can tell that whoever put the afternoon tea together had tried hard to make it interesting but it really wasnt great. I think this place has the potential to be amazing, but maybe not in the afternoon tea market. Kid-friendliness: Childrens afternoon tea was good in the way that it wasnt too much and thought was put into what a child really eats. Well done.
