Not impressed with this branch. Went in to deposit a cheque in the machine & took an elderly dog in with me that I was walking for a client. I refuse to leave a dog tied up anywhere, especially one that isnt mine. There was no sign on the door prohibiting dogs & as I regularly take dogs into the Blackwood & Abergavenny branches I had no reason to believe it would cause a problem. I tried to deposit my cheque several times but it kept spitting it back out. A member of staff appeared & I thought she was going to help me but instead she informed me that dogs are not allowed in the branch. I explained that I wasnt aware of this & pointed out the lack of signage & to be fair she did seem genuinely sorry & added that if it was up to her dogs would be very welcome but staff & customers had complained about them being unhygienic.Still no help with my cheque deposit, and another THREE members of staff informed me of the No Dogs rule but none of them offered to help me so that I could get out of the place . The cashier basically spoke to me as though I was some sort of fungus & more or less told me to get out of the branch as dogs could not be in it as they are unhygienic. I pointed out that they were probably a lot more hygienic than some customers. After resisting the urge to get the dog to deposit something other than a cheque I left & went to the Post Office. I was served promptly by a lovely lady & the dog was made welcome. Needless to say I wont be going back to the Halifax in Merthyr.
