Definitely not a five star hotel. Youre paying for the location. 1.When checking in, told its an extra 25 (on top of our very overpriced room-208 for 1 night) for an en suite toilet/shower! Thinking this is just a basic must in a five star hotel I was proved wrong with the receptionist telling us the room we have had a bathroom across a communal hallway! No thanks to that! We didnt want to feel were staying in a hostel so paid the 25 without question. 2. We were then showed partly to the lodge, having dragged our own luggage down 2 flights of stairs, the receptionist then pointed at the black door across the gardens telling us thats our door and left us to it. Having lugged our bags we tried to enter with the keys not working. Called receptionist from mobile who then finally arrived and said we were trying the wrong door! The door we needed was hidden to the side of the building! Even then the key didnt properly work and they struggled themselves to get in. 3. Room basic, very soft mattress, small windows 4. Woken up by ceilings creaking, room upstairs showering, using the toilet, having conversations at 00:30. We were exhausted from the day we had, tried calling reception via internal phone- no answer, mobile-no answer on multiple occasions. Ended up physically going to reception early hours explaining we felt so let down by noise and service so far. Told they have no ear plugs and no alternative rooms and the management will call me at 10:00. 5. Management did not call, ended up going to reception before check out and eventually spoke to manager who to her credit did listen and take notes. 6. Food overpriced and mediocre, the waiting staff seem inexperienced and needed reminding about things e.g water for the table and butter to go with toast which had already gone cold by the time it arrived. I would credit service where its due but feel extremely let down for the service and room. Overpriced for what it is. Location and grounds are beautiful but we were too exhausted to enjoy it from the poor sleep we had.

stayed here while on business in the area. Place has stunning views over the river and mountains in the distance. Incredible location. Was greated by a very friendly lady on reception who showed us to our room. Rooms are almost perfect. Very clean where it mattered with a great view aswell. Few areas where a bit rough such as the roof had what looked like water marks in one corner and a few bulbs didn't work. Had dinner in the resturant which was incredible. Chicken was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Finished off with a perfect sticky pud. Had a fantastic night sleep despite the emergency exit light being very bright. The breakfast was also very good. we was asked if we wanted some tea, coffee & toast but never recieved it despite ordering. Overall, a great stay.
