The King Alfred

A disappointing place which is a shame as it could be brilliant for Maesteg. The food was boring and on the cold side. The managers who I think were owners seemed like they couldn't be bothered and even looked lost. I think husband and wife team? The only positive about the place is the young waitress we had who was very chatty and actually quite funny. We felt sorry for her though because she was clearly stressed and not her fault so no complaints about her. I won't rule out going there again but think I'll watch what other reviews say over the next few months. Money is tight so don't want to waste it .

I ordered a beef burger but was sent chicken, the pork was 50% fat, the burgers arrived squashed, soggy and cold. When we called upto complain we were informed they had ran out of beef hence sending chicken- we were not made away of this untill we sat down to eat. We were initially refused a refund, however after some time arguing they did agree. I then messaged their page, to try and inform the owner of the problems we experiences - only to be given pure attitude and be harassed with messages and false aligations. We will hopefully get put money back, but clearly we are not getting an apology. The place has protencial, it's a shame they don't care enough to try and correct simple errors.

We travelled for an hour to try lunch today at Brocks. It says right here they're open on Tuesdays from 12.00. When we arrived at 12.30 on a sunny Tuesday it was locked shut. There is absolutely no excuse for this and we'll eat elsewhere in future.

Went with open mind after hearing mixed reviews from boys in work. Nothing special . Burger a bit too fatty but not too bad but not as mouth watering and their pics show. manager needs to put a sock in it and let the staff get on. Prices were as you expect these days. Seemed clean nd tidy. Nothing about it made me want to go back soon. Seems to be closed often when i pass through?
