Gwastad Hall Nursing Home

My mum spent her final 6 weeks here in summer '22, recieving palliative nursing care. The staff did a great job to look after her with compassion, and all genuinly cared about her, especially during the last week when she deteriorated and needed extra support & attention. Also they were supportive for myself & family, keeping me informed on my daily visits, as well as explaining how her ilness was progressing and what treatment they were providing as her needs increased. The nursing home is an older building, in a lovely quiet setting with a large garden that residents can enjoy, the food was homecooked and when needed the staff helped feed my mum and ensure she was recieveing the best care & support. Whilst she was unable to leave her room, the staff regulalry popped in to check on her and keep her company and my mum seemed happy during her stay.

My mother in law spent six months here and we cant thank the staff enough for all the care they gave her.

I would not recommend this care home due to the staff shortages they have. Some members of staff are nice, some are quite abrupt & nasty. As like most places some residents are able to partake in activities, the rest are left to sit there for long periods. Although the food provided here is very good.
