A quick response to my call and also a date which hasn't been done yet.

David was contracted to remove a pitched slate roof from our existing extension. He turned up, took the slate off, which was done without fuss and asked for half day payment which was made. Despite trying to contact him to return to complete the full job; several no shows later, there is still no sign of him and the work is still not complete. We are now a week behind schedule and this has affected every other element of the project. Our other contractors have lost work, as we have had to delay them as a result. It is a shame, as it takes less than a minute to respond to a client one way or another. I would not hire him again and will look for a more reliable roofer to finish the job.

Three years ago I asked Dave to do a simple gutter repair for me. Then a year later I asked him to repair a few ridge tiles for me, and replace a few broken slates. Because he did such good work in the past, I asked him to replace a slate roof for me this year and he did an excellent job. He found me some high quality recycled slates, and that saved me a lot of money. His labour costs were also very reasonable. After finishing the job he cleaned up all of the rubbish and took it away for me. If you want a professional to work on your roof, who was trained as an apprentice from age 15, by an old school craftsman, Dave is the man for you. Dave has 25 years experience as a roofer. He is honest and takes great pride in his work. If you want quality work done at a reasonable price call Dave!!! Don't bother calling this roofer. Called first time and said he would come and fix our leaky roof next day. Didn't turn up! Called back and left a message. Guess what? Didn't call back. We thought, third time lucky we'll call him again, guess what? Phoned on a different number, guess what? He did actually pick up and made an excuse that he had been poorly. He arranged to come over next morning and guess what? Yes, he never showed up. So the lesson here is don't call Mr Davies if you have a leaky roof!
