Smithy's Bunkhouse

This bunk house accommodation fitted our needs of our group of some 16 kayakers, it having the basic requirements There is no drying room for wet kit and little room too within the sleeping areas. The lounge area has comfy leather sofa chairs and the wood burned stove was excellent. There is a kitchen with two long tables with long bench seats. The oven worked well, although because the oven door did not close, the adjustment controls for the hob were too hot to touch when using the grill or oven. I had a lukewarm shower however I understand the boiler was fixed later in the afternoon. There was only one peg for clothes in the shower so I disrobed in the corridor. The bunk house is what you would probably expect but I have been in more modern establishments of the same kind. It is a little tired and could do with modernising.

Thank you for a wonderful stay . My first ever bunk house experience which highly exceeded my expectations. The lounge was my favourite feature with a highly effective log burner and ample comfortable seating. The kitchen was generously sized and well equipped. Any issues / requests addressed were attended to very promptly by the friendly owners. Stupidly, i missed that there were drying facilities for gear provided i could have utilised so be aware they are there for guest use. Overall i look forward to an opportunity to stay here again
