The area of Gwent and Monmouthshire are full of medieval battlements so popping to a second was an easy decision. The White Castle is an 11th century fortress in the middle of nowhere. One of three castles built up from their original wooden structures by Hubert de Burgh to keep the Welsh at bay as Prince Llewelyn was razing English castles at the time. Most has fallen into ruin but it still holds its own on the landscape. Its very remote with only a few parking spaces with no shelter.
