Live locally, and popped in with the dog on my way home and treated myself to scampi and chips and couple of cheeky wines, very nice! The pub is exactly as the appearance suggests; cosy, friendly with good honest food. For a woman on her own, sometimes pubs can be awkward, but locals and staff were friendly. Fab log fire, beautiful garden, relaxed atmosphere well worth a visit - would highly recommend. Jan

First visit to this lovely, characterful pub, mid way between Monmouth and Abergavenny and close to the Offa's Dyke Path. We went for Sunday lunch following a pleasant walk along a nearby forestry track. Roaring fire, outstanding welcome from staff. Unspoilt 'proper' pub with good, hearty food, in a lovely atmosphere.
