Nasty, small-minded money-grubbing LYING man runs this place - steer well clear! Booked a room in April, directly with the owner John, he encouraged me to pay all up front (it was slightly cheaper), I was nervous about the fact I may have had to change / cancel last min as my Mum is terminally ill with cancer and had been in and out of hospital... Which is exactly what happened - she had to go back in ...I had less than the required 48 hours but left messages as soon as I could get a moment at the hospital to call him. John nor any of his staff did not pick up, not the subsequent dozen times I called.. I resorted to email which he finally answered days later, absolutely refusing to negotiate / reason / refund. I asked if we could book for the next few weekends instead - NO he was booked until July (lies) I asked if I might have even a small % of the 200+ I paid for 2 nights - NO he does NOT issue refunds at such late notice I asked if he might consider anything else ie if we stayed nearby and came and had a meal there or something NO, NO and NO. In all my years dealing with bookings (I worked in business travel for years) including top hotels, last min Air B&B I don't think I have ever met anyone so utterly heartless. Oh, and a quick scan of a few booking sites showed there was more than enough spare availability, well before July. 200 is a lot for me as I work part time so I can care for my Mum (see above). The reason we wanted to go wasn't even for a holiday it was to visit my best friend who is also ill. Avoid him and his hotel like the plague - it's the kind of establishment that would probably charge you extra if YOU found a hair in the soup THEY'D cooked...

We've been coming back for a number of years now. This in itself is unusual for us, as we don't often stay in the same place twice. John and Michelle are such fantastic hosts however (John in particular is always ready to volunteer some nugget of local knowledge about where to visit), and the setting in the Vale of Clywd is so peaceful and tranquil. We've always stayed in the self-contained suite and it has everything you would need for a very comfortable stay. There's a well stocked kitchen, complete with generous breakfast bits and a bottle of something, and the place is always immaculately clean whenever we visit. We try to come here every year to find a bit of time just to ourselves, we've been in both the winter and summer and it's no less cosy whenever we visit.
