Indefatigable nautical school , thats what it was when I was a teenager, I spent 3 years there as a kid ,, from 81 to 84 , it was three of the best years I have ever had ! Didnt think that back then though, but , as the saying goes , you cant put an old head on new shoulders, had some of the most memorable times , from having liberty on Saturdays , going in to Bangor , where everyone knew us , especially local girls , their boyfriends were never big fans of us as I remember , how we used to get the train to Llandudno, deganwy to a pub that served us beer , we used to tell him we were on leave from our ship in Holyhead, wether he believed us is another matter , there was about 5 of us we all looked around nearly 18 , when we were 16 -17 ,, I have a sad memory that I will never forget , we went as a party of about 30 that went skiing in Austria, where a young lad named Matthew Leahy died , I actually found him in bed unresponsive and blue , I carried him to the bathroom and tried to revive him , but I was too late , I gave mouth to mouth and I really remember seeing him on the floor as I was giving all of me to fetch him back , our housemasters, Mr Simpson and Mr Burrell were there within minutes as they were in the bar , the ambulance and police came , and I remember they flew us back a day or so after , we were flown to Luton I think and rushed through security, because there was a huge press interest, Matthew and myself werent friends, as he was around 13 and I was 16 , we actually had lockers next to each other , he was a small skinny kid , very quiet , and he was also a nice lad who had lots of friends, such a tragedy, I will never forget him , and I can still see hes face , even nearly 40 years ago , 38 I think ,, Iv always thought of how hes family coped , as I found him and I never got to speak to them ,, I think he was from near Northampton, but aint positive,, Iv any indie boys ever read this , and they wer there between 1981 - 1984 , then hi fellas , hope you all have had good lives , and dont you look back on being an Indie boy as a positive experience,,
