I have stayed in both properties at Dildre over the last couple of years, both of which make a great base for a hiking holiday to the Brecon Beacons or a rambling trip through the nearby woodlands. Both properties come with fantastic views, especially on a clear day, but also make a cosy homely hub for the days when the Welsh weather sets in (particularly with the log burner going in Field View). The proprietors have always been tremendously welcoming hosts and very hospitable. David was even kind enough to give me a few tips on growing the perfect tomatoes and let me sample a few of his own. Would highly recommend the walk from the property, past the Cynghordy viaduct all the way to Llanwrtyd Wells (about 4 and a half hours in total), taking in the stunning scenery. Finish it off in the local pub for a pint or two before getting the train two stops to the bottom of the property (remember to let the guard know you want to get off at Cynghordy as it is a request stop).
