I worked with Lee and Eifion for a one 2 one session. It's the first time I've really understood how to use my camera without being on automatic. Eifion was patient and helpful, I'd highly recommend working with Welshot.

I recently made use of my membership benefit of having a free one to one with eifion of Welshot, the tuition was fantastic and at a pace that was easy to follow, all my concerns and questions regarding my own struggles with certain aspects of photography were answered and great advice was given. I was shown how to assemble the equipment needed for a studio and how to do a few techniques to get me started. We also ventured outside as that was my area of interest regarding photography and was shown what I would need to achieve good quality photos outside using minimum lighting equipment. Eifion is very patient and knowledgeable and also gave me advice and directed me to the right places after this one to one ended. Would recommend highly.

I joined Welshot Business & Bloggers Group in the hope that I could improve my non-existent photography skills. Starting a new business is costly and we were not in a position to hire a photographer. I was unsure what to expect and I must admit a little apprehensive feeling maybe I was out of my depth with all these passionate photo savvy people But their passion is contagious and they are so helpful with an absolute genuine motive of wanting to help others with anything photography based. Although I still feel a little self-conscious using my camera around such pros (more due to the fact that I struggle to spend enough getting to grips with my camera) I really do feel that Im slowly building confidence and knowledge and Im looking forward to see how far along I come on my photography journey Having 1 to 1 advice and coaching on the ideal camera was an absolute godsend and a really good foundation to kick off my new experience. But do be prepared for it to seep into your personal life, photography really is addictive. I now have some personal family photos framed on the wall as well as building a portfolio of my local area (seen anew through the eye of a lens) Being around such a passionate and helpful group has inspired lots of ideas that I hope to work towards to build a positive profile of my new business over the coming year(s) In todays visual world of social media I feel having just a basic understanding of photography is a valuable tool. Adding photographs taken personally to social media and web sites will enable you to tailor your profile to your own requirements. I think adding personal and unique content gives you the edge in this fast paced world we are all trying to keep up with I believe its just a matter of time before having photography skills becomes recognised as a valuable asset in the workplace and Welshot are ahead of their game introducing this programme in such an affordable and enjoyable way Thanks Eiffion & Lee Looking forward to the next academy session

It was cold in Chester on the evening of March 17th last, but it really didn't matter as a great time was being had by myself and others at the Welshot Academy evening. The main project on the agenda was to photograph, using off-camera flash, a quartet of lovely and talented young women who work professionally, as a girl group, under the name 'Office Girls UK'. They were a pleasure to photograph, especially for a newcomer, like me. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were a delight to work with. We were guided through the mysteries of off-camera flash by Eifion and Barry who ensured that everyone understood the lighting techniques used, and that everyone was gaining full benefit from the session. We had split into 2 teams at the beginning of the evening as traffic light-trail and product photography was also on offer so, after our group had completed our session with 'Office Girls UK', we all retired back into the Crowne Plaza Hotel for refreshments. For anyone who is unaware Welshot events always come with a light meal which is a great idea for those who don't finish work until late, and also as a chance for participants to chat and catch-up in a more relaxed setting than during the photoshoot proper. Following the break we were given the opportunity to try the traffic light-trails and then back to the hotel for product photography. This was my fourth time at a Welshot event and all have been equally as interesting, enjoyable and useful to me as a photographer. I have due to time constraints, favoured events concentrating on studio and off camera flash lighting as this is an area where I really need help. I have learned much over these four events, mainly due to Eifion's patience, and will I'm sure learn much more. I have booked for 3 more events up to now, and as more are added I'll certainly be booking some more, especially as I become less busy. Welshot is a great organisation that really does mean it wants to help you improve your photography, and certainly, as far as my photography is concerned, it has achieved it's aim and, I'm certain, will continue to so do.
