If I could give zero stars I would. Where should I start? We were due to stay here for Christmas week, my partner our daughter and severly disabled son and myself. It was late as we approached the lodges and from 2miles away we could see them on the hill bathed in industrial orange sodium floodlights. Like a prison camp. We arrived the Friday before Christmas 10pm and unload all of our belongings in to the lodge including the Christmas tree and all our sons medical equipment. The owner Anne met us and agreed to show us the lodge at 11am the next day. She arrived and immediately launched into presentation mode with do's and don'ts. The first of which was don't use the hot tub in windy weather. Well the site is on top of a hill and it's winter time. No mention of this in the Hoseason's small print. No candles in the lodge? No mention of that either! The list continued. Next outside to the hot tub and decking. The hot tub is apparently under lock and key between 8am and 8pm. The controls are not to be touched. The water was not hot and very murky indicating to me that there was an issue, either dirty water or a problem with the chemicals. I mentioned this and was quickly told that we know what we are doing with hot tubs and have been doing this for years. Next the decking which was green and very slippery with algae. We have put rubber mats down but it's still slippery Anne said, yes it was slippery and needed cleaning. Next I noticed the CCTV notice next to the hot tub, I asked Anne about this and was told it was for my own safety. I said surely I'm entitled to use the hot tub with my family in privacy. But obviously not. Anne told me that I was informed by Hoseason's about the CCTV prior to booking. I was not and there is still no warning in the small print. I have screenshot this as proof in case you add it after seeing this. Next came the list of hot tub rules 20mins in 30mins out and then you can get back in again. Big Brother will be watching you to ensure you do not break the rules too. All of this under the bright orange sodium floodlights. It was at this point I mentioned to Anne that I was not ok with the CCTV or the state of the water in the hot tub or the slippery decking and was told by Anne to look for somewhere else to stay. I contacted Hoseason's who were next to useless and sided with Anne saying she can do what she likes as they are only booking agents my contract is with Anne. They confirmed that she wanted us to leave asap, easier said than done with all of our sons medical equipment l to pack. Oh and by the way you are going to be changed 160 for staying one night? Pro rata it should have been about 60 but apparently the lodge needs to be cleaned and hot tub emptied. Hot tub emptied I enquired yes because it needs to have the water changing between customers. I don't think it was changed since the last customers and we have not been in the hot tub as it had a padlock and chain on it. Please give this place a miss it's honestly awful. Not that I wanted to stay but what a nasty woman kicking a family with two young children out so close to Christmas and then charging them 160 for the privilege of staying 1 night. Please do your research as you will find more negative reviews like this one. I really don't understand the good reviews unless people are used to these unacceptable conditions. Please do not expect to have anywhere to store food while you stay as there is only a small fridge freezer and no cupboard space and no frosted glass in the bathroom so the blind has to be closed when in use.
