I attended a luncheon party at this venue on 23rd July. After a drive through woodland and past the tennis court the imposing mansion came into view and a warm welcome awaited inside the grand entrance. An amazing display of pictures and curios lined the walls and we were treated to the warmest of welcomes from George with a fine selection of wines and soft drinks as well as a free invitation to have a look around the remaining reception rooms. The softly lit dining room had been lavishly set out for us, its soft red walls adorned with more pictures and with a pleasant view of the garden through the large windows. A further reception room had been decorated in 'country house' style and again was filled with antiques and many items of interest. The whole house was a collector's paradise and I found myself wishing I could have a guided tour covering the history behind the items on display. Our buffet lunch was superb and our delightful hosts, Nicky and George, helped proceedings to move along in a most enjoyable manner. Many of the guests commented afterwards that they would not bother with booking anywhere else, but would love to stay awhile in this glorious house and really soak up the atmosphere.
