Had a lovely stay in Rest for the tired. Mary, the host, is very lovely and made sure everything was perfect. She even made sure they had plant-based milk for my tea since I'm lactose intolerant. Very thoughtful. The rooms are great and the breakfast is delicious. It's in a nice spot of the town, even though everything is pretty close in Hay. There's a bookshop downstairs that is also owned by Mary and John, which I thought was very nice. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. Will book again when I return to Hay.

Lovely warm reception from the owner (Mary). Very comfortable period accommodation (grade 2 listed building). Tonnes of character: unlike bland hotels, you won't forget this place. Excellent (and secure) car parking + bicycle storage - in an area where parking is scarce ! Very generous breakfasts - that mean you have to do even more walking/cycling to keep the waistline in check ! I thoroughly recommend it , though you may have to climb several flights of stairs to get to your room.
