Govilon Activity Centre

This place was amazing, I went with my school not very long ago but we had such a fun time, lots to do and see and the staff are very nice, especially Dave, Dave was amazing, recommend it for many.

Absolutely amazing new year here,me and my family stayed for 3 nights and it was definitely one of our best new years!! Will definitely be coming back!

Booked Govilon for my husbands 30th birthday celebration, with friends and family, there was about 30 of us. Mix of men, women and children, self catering group. We all were most utterly surprised and impressed by Govilon! Amazing space inside, very well equipped kitchen with a commercial dishwasher, cooker and even fryer! Large fridge and freezer in the kitchen, plus one more fridge in the communal room where we hid the cake Superb clean bathrooms and toilets. We didnt know what to expect and brought our own hand wash and toilet paper, but there was a plenty of rolls and hand soaps by each sink. All the rooms and beds were set up, although we didnt use them all. On arrival we were greeted by Nick, he gave us an excellent tour around the place. We recently stayed at the activity centre for a self catered training camp. It is safe to say we were not only entirely satisfied but overwhelmingly impressed by the centre, its surroundings and the incredible team who run it. The centre is superbly equipped to help you make the most of your stay. We were self catering, and found the kitchen phenomenally impressive, with lots of features we've never had in previous year. In particular, the commercial dishwasher available saved us countless hours of washing up time, and the commercial cooker was more than capable of cooking for 50+ runners (roughly equivalent to 100 normal heads I would say). Elsewhere, the bathrooms and dormitories were excellent, and the central communal space was fantastic for both eating and group activities. There is a boiling water tap in the dining room which made tea rounds absurdly easy. The surroundings are also exactly what you'd hope they would be. We were primarily running around the surrounding country and Govilon provides access to both some challenging hills and peaceful, placid canals. The views from nearby mountainsides certainly do not disappoint. It's proximity to Abergavenny makes it very easy to get to from most of the country and we found the Morrison's superstore there was fantastic for supplying our food. We also went out for a meal in the pub one night, and were really impressed by the Tafarn Y Bont, which is just a 5 minute walk away. For those wishing to go deeper in to the BB's, Pen y Fan is just 40 minutes away in the car. The centre staff were not only incredibly competent but also a genuine pleasure to liaise with. They have clearly put a lot of thought into their Covid policies, which helped us to feel safe while not interfering with our trip. Nick was there to meet us on arrival, and gave us an excellent introduction to the property and answer any questions. Beyond this, he seemed invested in helping us get the most out of our stay, and was able to suggest some fantastic routes which we later made use of. On departure, the team were very flexible with us as they said there was a couple of days gap between us and the next booking. On the morning, Nick, Jo and the team were actually on site in the office so the handover process was as stress free as possible. If you are organising a trip for a group of our size I could not recommend the activity centre more strongly. The feedback I've had from our attendees is unanimously positive, and my experience as an organiser was made significantly easier by the team and the centre.
