We booked a week's summer holiday here in August, chosen due to it's location close to Bike Park Wales (20-minute drive) and also for some family walks and biking in the Brecons. The cottages are in a beautiful location, nestled in a valley and close to Pen Y Fan which we walked up one day. The cottages were easily accessible, but away from main roads. When we arrived, the owner Lucy was very helpful in getting us settled in, showing us round (games room, laundry facilities, where to store our bikes etc) and was always on hand to help if we had any queries. On the day we had a power cut (Storm Francis, see later), Lucy gave us some things to help until it was restored, which we didn't expect but were very grateful for. We had such a great time, lots of dog walking (the farmhouses are very dog friendly and Max could wander round with us off-lead), plenty of biking, and day trips (Brecon which is beautiful is 10 minutes away, other amenities and attractions were also very easily accessible). For walkers, you just have to step outside the door and there are so many lovely walks available. A major bonus for us was the things we could do indoors, not just in the farmhouse we stayed in but also in the communal games room. We were unfortunate with the weather with Storm Francis hitting one day we were there, but we just stayed home, read books, played pool and table tennis, played board games etc. With the unpredictability of the Welsh weather, having all those facilities close to hand made the stay even more enjoyable. We stayed in one of the three cottages, the Farmhouse. This had loads of space for the family, a lovely log fire, and was very warm and cosy and perfect for our stay. Everything we needed to cook on the days we decided not to eat out was provided. It was also impeccable when we arrived, and had lots of information and maps for things to do which helped us plan our days. Overall I would highly recommend Carno and for sure we will be going back!
