Dog-friendliness: It is, dependent on which route you take. I would say from Cwn Gwdi car park it is suitable until you reach the Pen Y Fan Peak and you may have to carry your dog up some how
Picnic area: No where to sit but you do have several rocks or nice grassy areas for you to sit and eat on the floor true picnic style
