The Railway Inn

We attended a friend's birthday celebration in the daytime and so the hotel accommodation was not involved. As this was a surprise function, we were all shown into a dining room, and then the owner closed the doors until the birthday subject arrived with his husband. The doors were thrown open, and the surprise was complete complete. Afterwards, we were fed a running buffet of very good quality. Throughout the staff were very attentive. I would definitely recommend this nice country pub. Food & drinks: The running buffet was very good and regularly topped up. I do not know what was paid and so cannot comment on the value for money, but I got the impression that it was very reasonable. There was a good range of beers and other drinks, coffees, teas, etc.

We found this pub after having a family walk around the Montgomery castle, with 2 cold and hungry kids in toe we needed somewhere available for food pretty soon. We arrived at 11.50 and were being served by 12.30, a traditional country pub with real home cooked food on offer. The chicken curry & cottage pie were really nice & the puddings - choc brownie & eton mess very tasty too. A great little find on our travels in a new area, worth a try for sure and very reasonably priced food.
