Sutcliffe Ben

Ben recently completed a pre-purchase survey for me on a 1993 Rival 36 in Portishead. Im not sure what I was expecting (having heard a few bad things about surveys) but it was an invaluable and informative experience. I would not hesitate to recommend him. I would now say its worth having a survey periodically even if not required for sale or insurance just to pick up the boat wrecking things that might go unnoticed and for a friendly nudge to sort out the things that have slipped down the priority list.

Fantastic survey, Ben demonstrated deep knowledge and experience throughout the survey. He also allowed for my presence through the survey (rare in my experience) to show first hand where there were defects and which would be expected of a used vessel along with those that required immediate action. Communication was very open and informative but not directive, allowing for a factual survey and decision on my part. I would definitely Request Bens services again, both locally and also further-afield and would highly recommend him and his Son.

I have had dealings with Ben on a good few occasions during the last few years, (most recently regarding a project Virgo voyager sailing boat that I've acquired), and I can say confidently that I've never met anyone with a better knowledge of sailing and motor craft. I have recommended his services to several of the members at my local boat club and I know that they've also had very positive experiences with his surveys and general advice. He has a knack for spotting potential issues and giving clear and concise advice on how they can be rectified. If you're looking for a survey you will find few people in the industry who are as thorough and helpful. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I believe there has been a single less than complimentary rating posted further down this list of reviews... I can only say that this bears no relation to the positive experiences that I and many others have had while employing Ben's services... If you need a survey, contact Ben and judge his professionalism and service for yourself.
