Great local business, with a lovely selection of instruments and accessories. The authentic atmosphere really shines through. I dedided to take up the playing the guitar and looking online, it's easy to become overwhelmed and for beginners; it is a minefield. Making the choice to buy a cheap instrument from an online retailer will actually make you give up quickly. Having an establishment like Mayalls means you can see, hold and experience the instrument and it's not as expensive as you think, from around 110 you can get a quality guitar that is more likely to keep you interested and create the desire to want to learn more. It can be intimidating to go into places like this if you are beginner, but fear not, you will be welcomed warmly at Mayalls! It's nice to say that a physical independently owned shop that exceeds online expectations is still a real thing. Located in Conwy, parking can be a pain and if you can't find free on street parking, then just pay to park in a car park nearby, you will spend longer than you think looking at everything. In the end I treated myself to a Vintage V300 Acoustic (pictured) a little more than the entry level guitars available but very beautiful. I also purchased the tuner, picks, hanger, capo and awesome looking strap, basically everything I needed/wanted. The entry into this type of hobby is very low in my opinion. Thanks for the great service Jack.

Bought a new Fender Player Strat before Xmas. Was having issues with some strings pinging so the guys offered me a free setup. Waited a week and got guitar back to find the G string was buzzing. Took it back and was told I needed a new nut. Waited another week while they fitted free of charge. When I got it home the buzz was fixed but there was a harmonic ringing out on the headstock. Again on the g string. Very disappointed this wasnt noticed. I also noticed the nut wasnt filed down to the width of the neck (the original nut was flush). I get that this is a cheap Mexican Fender but this was my first new Fender and is important to me. I was also told that the original nut on the guitar was plastic which is also a concern because these guitars are supposed to have a synthetic bone nut. Something Fender advertise and I confirmed using Fenders serial number checker. Since I bought this guitar here I cant help but wonder why it had a plastic nut. The guys are very friendly and I suspect theyre overloaded with work. I didnt want to bother them again or be without the guitar for a third time so I got some advice and fitted a second string tree which has fixed the problem. Like I say, Im disappointed that these things werent picked up during inspection and while I might buy other products from here in the future, its unlikely Ill buy another guitar or have it repaired here again. Sorry guys.
