Caldicot fish Bar

The best fish I've had in caldicot . the food is high quality and crisp . The staff are all incredibly friendly and you can tell they take pride in the food they make. I would recommend to anyone!! Oh and also the kebabs are fantastic.

Bought 3 lots of fish bites and 2 large chips today. Had to wait for them to cook it, but once home and opened, the chips were hard and black in places. Totally inedible. Fish bites had nice fish inside but batter was not crispy, just a greasy soggy texture. Will not be going there again and highly NOT recommended!

Been coming here for a few years now. It's always been a fairly average chippy. Alright portions, and reasonably priced. It's never been quite good enough for me to leave a review. Unfortunately, recently we've had a couple of poor experiences with the food which has led to me writing this review. A few weeks ago we had a battered sausage which was very disappointing. The batter was extremely soggy and had an odd flavour. We thought it was a one off. So tonight we decided to order from Caldicot Fish Bar again. I was extremely disappointed in the food once again. We had a battered cod and battered sausage. Both of which were terrible. The cod batter actually looks uncooked and raw in places. It almost looks as if it's not cooked on a high enough temperature. I would like to say the prices are reasonable, and the food that isn't battered is generally quite good. The service is not quick but also I've never been waiting ages in there.

I would give it minus but I cant! The worst scampi I have ever seen. Chips were dry and tasteless, pie was inedible. We couldnt even eat it!!!. Received 5 thumbnail size scampi- with no prawns inside. Never again yuk
