I booked afternoon tea for a special occasion. We loved the venue and we were made to feel welcome. My five guests tell me their tea was delicious. My gluten free option was very poor. The bread was dry and tasteless, the scone dry and oversweet, and the chocolate damp and flavourless. I was disappointed. The toilets are outside. It was raining and they were cold and wet. They need upgrading to match the beautiful venue.

This was point of call for a bacon roll and a latte. Best Id had for a long time, proper thick slices of bacon and a generous sauce sachet. Stunning location in a refurbished gatehouse with an outdoor seating area overlooking Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. Named after the head gardener employed by the Marquis of Bute during the latter part of the 19th century. A wonderful cafe to stop off at during a Cardiff city centre shopping trip.
