Positives: the room was a decent size and came with all the gubbins you need in a hotel room - kettle, iron, clothes horse, mini fridge, hairdryer, telly, chair, enough cupboard and drawer space for a week or so's stay, guide book, big mirrors; the staff were friendly and helpful; the location is amazing, you're right in the city centre; the bed was comfy and although it was 2 twins pushed together to make a double, it was arranged sideways rather than lengthways so there was no falling through the middle; the shower is spacious and has multiple heads (a jungle one and a hand one) to suit all needs; the front desk is 24 hour so there's always assistance available; the room was clean and tidy with plenty of tea bags and coffee sachets; free wifi; desk space for working at; 3 lifts so you never have to wait too long; the general design of the hotel is sophisticated and pleasant; the room felt very secure and includes a door chain Negatives: there was a lot of noise from rooms above and adjacent, particularly if someone was having a shower or walking around, and for one of the nights we stayed there was loud music blaring until gone 3am; the television was on the far wall and not that big so it was difficult to see from bed and you have to have the volume up quite loud to hear it (which causes problems due to the walls being not very soundproof); the bathroom is especially not soundproof, if anything it is echoey, which broadcasts your lavatorial activities to whomever you're sharing the room with and anyone in the corridor; the keycards to get in were very hit and miss (during a 3 night stay we had to go to the front desk three times about it); the complimentary "shampoo and conditioner" is not good quality so I recommend bringing your own; the shower has no door so water leaks on to the bathroom floor; the toilet paper was thin and scratchy; in the corridor outside our room there was a missing ceiling tile surrounded by mould with a mouldy towel jammed in it; the stairs are not clearly marked (as someone who's partially sighted this made them difficult to navigate); the view from the window was underwhelming (directly into other people's rooms); the mugs provided for tea/coffee were quite small; there was only one bedside plug and there were no USB ones; there was no main light in the room (only side ones) which sometimes felt a bit dimpsy; the air conditioning didn't seem to work at all and the room became too warm. But overall, we had a lovely stay and I would gladly come back again next time we're in Cardiff
