So difficult to get through on the phone.

The admin staff are amazing and all the clinical team are outstanding.....The telephone system however is awful. I had to take a morning off work to call my doctors as it takes this ling to get through. You can be on hold for 30 mins to 1.5 hours and get cut off when you reach queue position 1!! It took 2.5 hours of calling today to get through and the lady on the phone advised the system has changed to centralised calling. I advised that this method is clearly not working for staff or patients as I was at queue position 1 for 52 minutes... meaning it has taken 52 minutes to deal with the person before me?? I question this telephone systems viability as I work in the same scenario and 15 mins on hold is considered a long wait and deemed as an improvement measure will need to be implemented. Like I said, I cant fault the whole team just this dreadful telephone system. I felt better while waiting at the adjacent pharmacy to hear all the patients complaining about the amount of time wastedon the phone as they never answer.... that speaks in volumes. I appreciate we are in difficult times and a period of great change but hours waiting to get through to someone is unrealistic and not practical for people who work!!!
