It was easy to park outside and the general area wasn't too busy with people, although we went on a grey drizzly Sunday. There are no airs and graces inside but nor is it tatty or aged. Customer service is good; we were welcomed then shown to our table by the staff behind the bar, who were happy and smiling. On a Sunday (I assume it is every Sunday) there is no menu - it's a roast dinner with the choice of beef, pork, chicken or a mix of beef and pork. For the vegetarians there is the option of a vegetation sausage thing. Not an actual sausage but a 4" - 5" thick round sausage looking thing with a crusted outside. For the pescatarian, they were happy to replace all meat options with a piece of poached cod. We were all pleased with our choices. The cuts of meat were really nice, beef not chewy and pork not fatty. Cod was pretty good too! With the roast dinner the plate had the meat, some small boiled and slightly roasted potatoes (nice), parsnip, big chunky piece of roasted carrot, Yorkshire pudding and gravy (veggie). All other veg was shared across the table in pots but refilled as requested - mashed potato, mashed swede, cauliflower cheese, cabbage / greens with and without bacon pieces, and more gravy (veggie and regular). The food could have been a little hotter but it wasn't cold and perfectly adequate. This was one of the better tasting roast dinners I've had in a pub restaurant for a while. Service was as quick as you'd expect and we weren't kept waiting. Serving staff were attentive and friendly, vegatables were refilled quickly without delay, which did not interfere with the eating experience. There was a choice of three desserts, each served with either ice-cream or cream - salted caramel cheesecake, churros (two large ones) or chocolate fudge cake. We had cheesecake and churros - couldn't fault desert at all, decent size and after that roast dinner, plenty even if shared. Would definitely recommend this place, after our recent Sunday experience.
