The Langley Spa

Terrible, terrible service, we booked a short stay at the hotel with spa treatments included. On arrival we established quickly we could not have a spa treatment, that we had paid for as the spa was fully booked and that we could not eat in the restaurant that evening as we had not made a booking to do so. It seems there were less covers in the restaurant than there are rooms in the hotel and external bookings are also taken. Recipe for disaster. It was never explained to us beforehand it was required to make a booking. There are also no other options for dining nearby. Windsor is the nearest town and is not close to the hotel. Eventually we ate in the bar area at a tiny table that could barely fit the plates. Food was luke warm once served. Had given up complaining by this point. Real shame as a fantastic position and building but the staffing was utterly inept in dealing with the most basic requests and were completely disorganised. The manager seemed unable to confirm if she was the manager or not. Initially suggested she was and then when we complained decided she was not. It was promised the hotel manager would get in touch however this subsequently did not take place. My wife asked for sourdough toast on 4 seperate ocasions before it arrived at breakfast the next day. In the end we were offered some money back but what would have been preferable is for the weekend to deliver on what was promised. Financial difference was little compared to our disappointment. Overall, I would reccomend to treat a booking here with caution. The hotel has great potential but is a long way from achieving this as the service is so poor. I have never witnessed a more pressing need for a propert maitre de to come in and run the hotel properly. Complete shambles for what is meant to be a 5* operation. Cocktails were not bad. We had a 30-minute hot stone back massage and a ,60-minute Elemis facial. The beauticians were very professional and knowledgeable, the salon nice and clean, and we thought the treatments were good value for money. Highly recommend.
