My very poorly wife sent by her GP to the A&E Dept arrived at 16.30 yesterday. Am writing this at 04.47 today Saturday. Shes still waiting. Catastrophically run-down. Should bring shame upon all responsible for its collapse as a functioning department

Today I saw Neurologist Dr Rohan Ahmed. I had not seen him before. He was absolutely fantastic. So polite so understanding and so very thorough. Doctors like this are so valuable. Thank you so much Dr Ahmed. I was in my consultation an hour. He didnt rush me. He was truly fantastic.

After my visit to A&E yesterday, I am amazed at the turn around! Ive always seen the drs/nurses/staff as going above and beyond but let down by minimal resources. Yesterdays experience started with a welcoming at the A&E door by a member of the A&E staff and a lovely receptionist signed me in (it seemed as though they have had new systems put in place to help with the functioning of department). I was then triaged by a lovely triage nurse, who although under immense pressure gave me her full attention and time. After having my bloods I was then sent down to ENT who again I could not praise enough. The ENT doctor was comforting and professional and set the environment in which no rushing was necessary, again, in a very pressured environment for the staff. During my waiting times in the A&E waiting area I noticed they now allocate one member of staff to circle the waiting area with a mobile system set up to allow that individual to provide updates to patients and provide support to the more vulnerable patients (this was an amazing addition to the new implementations in the department!). I also noticed that the Red Cross have a list identifying the patients that have been waiting some time and they provide these individuals with food and beverages, alongside any diabetic patience that may need it for medical reasons. I can only put my visit down to a positive one. Athough, I still find the staff to have minimal space and resources, but understand that these changes can be a long process and hope for the staffs benefits that these are implementations in the making. Thank-you all that treated / supported me as a patient. You are all an amazing team. Abigail.
