We were looking for a place to eat on the way back from Llandudno where we had been hiking. To be honest I was a little sceptical as it was in a caravan site however couldnt have been more wrong. The restaurant had clearly undergone a refurb as was nice and modern inside. The service from our waiter was exceptional. He had recommending me the Cheese Burger and it was honestly the best burger I have ever had. My friends had the Chicken and Lamb skewers, both had said it was excellent. The food here is very high quality.

Oh where to start? We read in the Daily Post (twice, on consecutive days no less) that the restaurant had reopened with "celebrity chef" trained staff. I had worked with the Roux brothers in the 80s on TV shows and looked forward to supporting this establishment. Therefore, as we are local and had always wanted to try this restaurant but couldn't because of Covid etc etc we thought this would be a good time to start a regular habit of dining here. The site is saturated with cars, too many for its size if truth be told. Blimey, the caravans are close together! Parking was a nightmare. The restaurant looked welcoming at first site. However, we sat at just after 8pm and found the service to be somewhat disorganised with various staff coming to take orders even before menus being offered. Then the noise started! It was Saturday night and there was an act (not mentioned during booking) that used volume as its main selling point. Even at the opposite end of the room that simply meant conversation was not possible between the four of us. My hearing is good enough for professional sound recordist duties, but this racket was on another level. Despite asking (in loud shouty voices) for the volume to be moderated nothing was done. Maybe they could not hear us? We sat, either without conversation or shouting with one ear cupped to hear the others which made using knife and fork together really awkward. We seriously considered leaving after our starter because of the noise. Even during the singer's break when we could speak the service was poor. We were ignored. We were made to feel that we were trouble makers. The bill arrived with drinks that were never brought appearing in the total. The noise restarted. No offers of dessert menu/coffee/another drink. We were abandoned. Regretfully no tips tonight. It was a relief to leave, but we still had to navigate the car parking, from which we just about managed to extract ourselves. Never again I'm sorry to say despite tasty fayre. We had great hopes for a quality local eatery. Ho hum. 4 stars for the food but lose 2 for the awful experience.
