Snowdon Base Camp

Lovely campsite. Stunning scenery and right by a lake. Facilities are great and have everything you need. The gentleman who owns/runs it is friendly and always stops for a chat when doing his rounds. Was nice to have a familiar face to see throughout the trip. Felt like a very homely campsite and staff at Cwellyn Arms were helpful with advice re climbing Snowdon and routes etc. campsite is very close to start of Snowdon Ranger Path up Snowdon, coming back down circular route Rhyd Ddu (circular route ends at Cwellyn Arms so had a nice drink there afterwards). Would definitely come back. Seen some reviews about no phone signal- Im with EE and had some, but my friend with Vodafone didnt on the campsite, if that helps at all. No phone signal at Cwellyn Arms where you go to check-in to campsite, so if youre travelling in more than 1 car perhaps arrange to meet there at the pub/check in location as no phone signal to ring rest of the group if unsure where to meet exactly. Camp attendant (owner?) ZERO people skills. Blunt, rude and happy to talk down to you. Unserviced and dirty washing facilities. No locks on half!? Scummy water supply. Great location and views. Quiet early May.

Brilliant site, fire pits available and it's by a Snowdonian lake. What else is there to say really. Oh, the walk to the nearest pub is a bit awkward, but other than that this site is perfect.

Playground: No need for a playground. Woods, lake and open space! Restrooms: Tidy Dog-friendliness: Yes Picnic area: Picnic benches everywhere!
