Wonderful experience, hopped on from Barmouth harbour. Took the short ferry ride to fairbourne, had a walk around the beach, and watched the steam engines come in.

Today at Barmouth we were walking the harbour and watching the children crab fishing...very cute. We tthen heard the skipper of 'Emily' shout "anyone else for the ferry?" On impulse we hopped on just to go there and come back. Had a great laugh at the furry passengers on return journey. Would definitely come back.

Lifesaver. Rescued us from a deserted Barmouth Ferry railway station after a long walk in the rain. But there were no signs on the platform showing where the ferry lands. I was waiting / looking out for the ferry at the bottom of large steps immediately opposite the platform. I was giving up hope when I thought I'd climb the grassy hillock and look across to the harbour. I then saw a ferry approaching but it landed around the corner from the station on the pebbly shore. Still, a huge relief (especially as it was still running in bad weather) and great, friendly service offered. I'd just suggest some signage from the South land-side.

Barely enough time for me and my crew to perform a sea shanty! The captain was very competent although I was suspicious that he was the only one wearing a life jacket. I had told my assistant and bodyguards not to pay the ferryman until he got us to the other side but he insisted on full payment up front. Not to worry, we could have easily mutinied if we had to. Plus, my yacht was not too far away in any case and we're all excellent swimmers and in peak fitness. Fortunately though he took us safely to the other side, probably recognising us as fellow mariners.

Nice little shuttle ferry across the estuary. Just be warned that if you take the Fairbourne train then you might be in quite a queue for the ferry as it only carries 8 people at a time. There were two ferries when we were waiting which took about an hour to get on a boat. 2.50 per person one way adult or child and I think dogs are 1. Note at low tide the return point from Barmouth changes from the steps near the public toilets to out on the peninsular.
