Brought a reversing camera from Halfords (not the cheapest option) but in addition I selected a Free Assessment on the web site - for Halfords to fit it for me (would have been an additional 75) - was offered a time slot for the next morning. As the trip would take us an hour and a half to visit the store - I decided it best to call Halfords to make absolutely sure that they would fit it if they could. Could not find a number for the store directly - so ended up with Halfords customer care; who absolutely assured me that all was well - the item was available and the assessment and fitting was booked for the time I had selected. I then got text messages to confirm. We arrived ahead of time - the store was empty with only 1 member of staff - who had the air of wanting to ignore us as customers by making himself busy and messing around with a bike. After trying to attract some attention decided to be rude and interrupt - explained I was at the store to pick up the item and have the free fitting assessment - to be advised they have no mechanics and do not offer this service in Aberystwyth - rather abruptly told if they did it would take at least 4 and a half hours of their time (rather specific I thought) - sensing the air of contempt - We immediately cancelled the order and to be fair we were refunded immediately - but not of course for my 3 hour round trip and wasted morning. Sorry but if I could give a no star review - I would. Unfortunately - I think Halfords will soon be joining the destination stores of yesterday - it offers a service - but cannot actually deliver. In my case - I reverted back to Amazon Prime for my new camera - followed by some research on YouTube - and I have now successfully fitted the replacement reversing camera myself - took me 20 minutes. As for Halfords - I will never waste my time again and just remember Halfords nostalgically - a bit like Woolworths - something stuck in the past and unable to keep up with the new commercial landscape.
