We had a wonderful week staying in Penybanc Bach, the self-contained annex to Adrianas family home. It appears to have been recently been refurbished to a very high standard so everything is in mint condition and its all sparkling clean. The garden is stunning, well-kept and with lovely views over the valley and opposite hillside. As its shared with the family, theres even the occasional bonus visit from their 7 month Alsatian puppy or shy cat. On the odd morning we heard the rooster in the far end of the garden but we didnt see him or the chickens. The location is beautiful and so peaceful. Theres very little light pollution so you can see many, many stars and the milkyway on a clear night. Its only 7 mins along single track roads to the nearest village of Peniel and Adrianas directions meant we found it without any problems. The curving gravel driveway looked steep on arrival, but we didnt have any problems with it in our Nissan Note. Carmarthen is close by so its very easy to get to a supermarket or onto the A40 / A48 and around the area. The house itself was perfect for the 2 of use to stay in for a week. The kitchen is compact and theres no permanent cooker but Adriana provided a 2 pan hotplate and theres a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle. Everything felt very new. The lounge has 2 armchairs and a table with 2 more chairs so theres space to sit and eat as well as relax. We didnt need to try the wood burner but a basket of logs, lighters and matches were provided. The Wifi worked well, so the lack of any mobile signal on O2 wasnt an issue for us. Adriana was a wonderful host very friendly and helpful. We were given a warm welcome with tea, coffee and welsh cakes left out for us and 2 pints of milk in the fridge. Adriana gave us lots of really great recommendations when we asked about things to do in the area. She also very kindly booked us into Dexters in Carmarthen for a fantastic meal. We had a great week and would definitely recommend Penybanc Bach.
