Locholly Lodge Luxury Self Catering

We spent a week at Locholly Lodge in October. The weather wasn't the best, however when you have such an amazing house to stay in we still had a fantastic time & didn't want to leave.The views from the lounge area upstairs are breath taking & another great way to spend hours relaxing. The views change every minute of the day with the weather. The log burner is also such a joy to sit in front of when the wind & rain is battering the house.The hot tub & sauna were fantastic. The hot tub especially with it's amazing views is a perfect therapy in itself. We had our 17 year old daughter & her boyfriend with us so brought the pool table from the garage into house & had many entertaining games of pool & snooker. We enjoyed a walk around the headland you look out to from the house. Had a few runs out to Fuaran Bar at Altandhu, about 3 miles drive. Had a wonderful meal one evening in front of the log burning stove. We had a walk on the beach down at caravan park, got soaked then again enjoyed a hot chocolate & some drinks in front of the log burning stove at the Fuaran Bar. We found the wee shop at the caravan park in Altandhu much better stocked that the one in Achiltibuie itself. A bit disappointed to see the Summer Isles Hotel had stopped lunches & we couldn't even get a drink when we went in 1 afternoon. It's a short walk from the house. We had a walk on Achnahaird beach between showers one day which is lovely. Another day we sat in the car looking down towards the beach watching a seal bobbing about. The weather on the day we left was the best all week, so we took a slow run back stopping at Fisk Gallery at Polbain, a short drive from house. On a sunny day the views & colours are spectacular. Had a lovely wee walk around Ullapool. There's so much to do, see & explore in the area we have booked again to come back this time to Windyhill cottage in Altandhu next year in May. Fingers crossed for better weather so we can get out & about more. Well worth a visit to this luxury accommodation & despite the weather the location & facilities in the house are the best.

I stayed in Locholly for 4 nights in January. Alone. I needed space and silence after a busy festive. And a hard going 2 years. It's a glorious house, exquisitely appointed. Warm, welcoming, cosy, spacious, and filled with light. I spent slow mornings on my yoga mat. Indulged in some creative writing. Then wandered around the headland every day in wind and rain, packed lunch and flask of tea in my pocket. In the half light of dusk, I'd put on the sauna, and sit in front of the log burner until the sauna warmed up. The dark winter evenings were spent in simple ways: sauna; bath; supper and a glass of wine by the stove. I had the time of my life. Such a privilege to be there. I'm so full of gratitude. Achiltibuie is my most favourite place on the planet.

A fabulous week-end to celebrate our Ruby Wedding. Even the sun came out to bless us! Superb accommodation in an incomparable setting. Memories are made of this! Will definitely be back!
