Possibly the most beautiful place in the world. The house has amazing views across the sea to islands, and I spent many happy hours staring through binoculars hoping to spot a whale. (Mostly I saw sheep, staring back at me through the window!) It was possible to follow a sheep path down to the beach, past a derelict house, to an archway in the rock. The beach is covered in giant pebbles. The area is surrounded by grassland and waterfalls, with deer wandering and Highland cattle grazing. We had beautiful weather with sunny days and a light breeze, so there were very few midges. I understand that sometimes they can be a nuisance. The studio flat was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfast provided was very generous and I made scrambled eggs in the microwave and toast with the smoked salmon. We were given bread warm from the oven, yogurts, jamseverything we needed. We ate dinner at The Walled Garden at Applecross. There might be better places, but it was convenient. Applecross is a sweet village to walk around, with a lovely chapel. The whole area was perfect for long hikes or gentle strolls, enjoying the countryside.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Spindrift. It is in an ideal location, secluded, but not far off the beaten path and easy to find. There are great restaurants down the road in Applecross, no more than a 10-15 min drive. There is also a nice beach just 5 min down the road. This place is perfect for any Torridon / Applecross travelers needing a respite after long stints on the road and/or treks through surrounding natural landscapes. The room was very comfortable, clean, and boasts some amazing views across the water to Skye. We were impressed by Sue's breakfast, the homemade bread is hard to beat, and she was very generous in her variety of offerings. We would definitely stay here again!
