Jane and Philip are the perfect hosts. They have thought of everything! We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown into their fantastic self catering accommodation - more like a 5* hotel! The bedrooms are to die for with comfy kingsize beds, beautiful decor, wonderful sparkling bathrooms and each room with its own comfy and private conservatory which is not overlooked and offers panoramic views. Upstairs is a cosy lounge and well equipped kitchen. There is nothing you could wish that is not provided (though you are encouraged to ask if there's anything else you might need). The welcome pack allows for a cuppa and shortbread whilst unpacking and then a relaxing glass of wine later. Philip and Jane have good advice on where to go and will help with your itinerary by suggesting good places to eat on a wide range of sightseeing routes. The ambience is warm and welcoming. There are lots of lovely touches including beautiful pictures by local artists, Philip's photos and selected DVDs about local archaeology and history. Rickla stands in its grounds but is at the heart of West Mainland which is full of of history, coastal views and walks and has views over to Hoy. It's no wonder guests keep returning. A real Orcadian treat for couples and families alike! This is one place you must stay at!
